American Express
Delta SkyMiles Reserve
What it is
The Delta SkyMiles Reserve is an American Express card earning Delta SkyMiles. Its ongoing value can outweigh the annual fee, making it a potential keeper past year one. Top-tier Delta card: Delta Sky Club access (plus Centurion Lounge when flying Delta) and a first-class Companion Certificate are the keeper hooks for a committed Delta flyer. Carries real trip cancellation/interruption insurance and cell phone protection. Heavy AF means it only pencils out if you actually fly Delta and use the lounge + companion. Reserve is the top of the tier-family — its bonus is blocked only by having held a Reserve before.

What you get
- Companion certificate$600per year
One Companion Certificate per year after renewal: round-trip DOMESTIC first class / Main Cabin (companion pays ~$22–$250 taxes/fees). USCCG values it 'more than $1000' for a first-class redemption; editorial face value held conservative at $600 (is_estimated — varies hugely by fare/cabin). Util ~0.5: strong keeper but needs a Delta domestic RT to realize.
- Sky Club access$500per year
10 Delta Sky Club visits per Medallion year (unlimited at $75k+ annual spend — that tier is SKIPPED per spend-tier conventions). Also complimentary Centurion Lounge access when flying Delta booked on this card, plus 2 Sky Club guest passes. Editorial value ~$500/yr for the 10 visits (~$50/visit); util ~0.5 since it requires Delta travel days.
- Resy credit$240per year
$20/mo (up to $240/yr) at qualifying US Resy restaurants — DOUBLE the Platinum's $10/mo. Enrollment required. Same key as Platinum; value_cents_msrp reflects Reserve's $240 annual.
- Delta Stays credit$200per year
$200/yr Delta Stays statement credit (personal Reserve tier). Narrow booking channel → low util.
- Rideshare credit$120per year
$10/mo US rideshare, enrollment required, no 12-month wait (counts Y1). Same key as Platinum.
- Global Entry credit$120one-time
Global Entry ($120) or TSA PreCheck fee credit, ~once per 4 years → period='once', util 0.25 (heavy churners usually already hold GE from a prior card). Per house convention.
